Enrichment

Co-curricular enrichment at St. John the Baptist happens both inside the classroom and beyond the wall of the school building.

The Montessori classrooms are taught by Montessori-trained teachers who provide fundamental subject content and guidance to free students to embark on their own exploration of the world and enter the depths of their intellectual interests.

Moreover, St. John the Baptist takes a Montessori approach to the traditional, yearlong co-curricular courses taught by single teachers. Wednesdays are reserved for children to explore an expansive array of topics. We invite educators to come to SJB and provide diverse educational opportunities, and we take our students off campus to engage with what the greater Twin Cities Metro has to offer.

Examples of these enrichment opportunities include:

  • Minneapolis Engineering for Kids
  • Serving the poor
  • Camping trips
  • Hands-on experience in energy conservation
  • Studying flora and fauna at farms, orchards, the Arboretum, and Minnesota state parks
  • Ukulele lessons
  • Sewing
  • Skiing, tubing, and snowboarding
  • And much more!
