Lucy (Miss Lucy) grew up in northeast South Dakota. She graduated from Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. She has been graced to teach most of her 24-year teaching career in Catholic schools in the Twin Cities. Her experience has been in the primary grades. These years of teaching were not continuous, however, as the births of her 3 children and a time as a childcare provider allowed for 9 years at home. Lucy’s daughters live in the Metro area and her son lives in California. She is grateful for her northeast Minneapolis home which she has shared with her husband for the last 34 years. While it is usually a quiet haven for the 3 R’s: rest, relaxation and recollection, it is frequently visited by her 2 lively and lovely grandchildren, with whom she loves to play board games and enjoy whatever fun they can create! Lucy likes to read, sew, go on walks with friends, gather with her 7 siblings and their families whenever able, and share the gardening tasks with her husband each year.
As a cradle Catholic, Lucy is deeply grateful for the example of faithfulness to our Heavenly Father and trust in His Providence given to her by her parents, family, teachers, priests and sisters throughout her life. She humbly hopes that her service to the children here at St. John the Baptist Catholic Montessori School will be a support to these little ones as they wonder at God’s world and delight in who they are as His children. Lucy is happy to be a part of the St. John community and looks forward to meeting you!
